Reasons Why I Love Vancouver, Canada

Yes, Vancouver is expensive. The BC government is stupid. The tax here is ridiculous. But I am always pulled back every time I see just how beautiful Vancouver is.

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker

Its finally out!!!

I went out early really early on June 8th the day of its launch as I was afraid that there was going to be a line up. I have also forgotten to place a hold of the game. And luck was on my side as there was an extra copy of the limited edition pack left. I have been hook on the Metal Gear game series since first playing it on my PSone 12 years ago.

The story takes place after the events of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, both prequels to the original Metal Gear, and features Naked Snake as the protagonist once again. Like all MGS directed by Hideo Kojima, I know this is going to be an epic game.

Looking Out The Window

I flew to Edmonton  last week with a friend using Westjet. When comparing Westjet to Air Canada, the national carrier cannot even begin to compete with Westjet in terms of service and staff friendliness. So if you are in Canada choose to fly with Westjet.

On my way back to Vancouver from Edmonton, shortly after takeoff, I look out my window and couldn't help but took a picture of what I saw. I really like the way the picture turned out with the background and especially the cloud reflecting on the wing of the aircraft.

I shot this with my Canon G11 using the following settings.
Aperture: f/3.5.
Exposure Time: 1/500 sec.
ISO: 100.
Exposure Bais: -0.3.
Focal Length: 14mm.

Let me know what you think I can do to improve the shot should I have a chance to capture this set again.

Super Comfy Shoes

Recently on my trip to the states I bought myself a pair of Black Crocs™ Santa Cruz. They are by far the most comfortable shoes I have ever slip my feet into. And they are made in Mexico too. None of the made in People's Republic of China China stuff here.

Fried chicken that taste better than KCF.

For those of you who have seen the pictures of my fried chicken and loved what you saw. Here is the recipe for you to try the fried chicken at home yourself. Then you can judge for yourself if its better than KCF. If its not, well at least its more healthy.

The ingredients that you will need for this dish will be:

4 pieces of chicken. (Drumstick, Thigh, Wings or Breast)
1 table spoon Herbes de Provence. (Or any herb / spice mix you can find)
2 tea spoon garlic powder.
1.1/2 tablespoon of paprika powder.
1.1/2 tea spoon black pepper.
Salt to taste.
And corn flour or corn starch, (they are the same thing with different names) to coat the chicken.

Steps for preparing the chicken is as easy as eating it. Just mix herbs, paprika, garlic powder, pepper and salt onto the chicken and make sure all parts of the chicken is covered by the marinade. Then leave it in the fridge to marinade for at least 4 hours. I left mind for about 6 hours.

Reason I coat the chicken with the flour and not add water to the flour to make a batter is because liquid batter will be too thick, and when you eat the chicken you will taste more of the batter than the chicken. Then you deep fry it by batch and dump everything into the fryer reason being the chicken tend to stick to each other if you mass fry them. Fry till golden brown and remember to turn them occasionally.

Your finished product should at least look like this to call it a success. Enjoy!!

Coke Collections II

Continuing from part 1 as I didn't want to make the post too long in one posting. My readers might get bored.

Pictured below is a set of miniature coca cola set that my wife got from the 'World Of Coca Cola' when she was at Las Vegas a few years back.

Nothing much can be said here as you can see all I have taken the picture at a closeup so you can read the label of the bottle.

World's First 60 Megapixel Camera.

Introducing the world's first medium format 60Megapixel camera the Hasselblad H4D-60. This camera is also currently the most expensive new camera (meaning its not a collectors item) as of 1st January 2010. With a price tag of about €28,995 or USD37,019. Medium format is bigger than full frame for those who don't know.

Hasselblad have been around since World Was II and is being manufactured in Sweden Flag of Sweden and  have a long history with NASA. Most if not all NASA camera in space are made by Hasselblad. The first pictures taken when man landed on the moon was taken by a Hasselblad camera where Neil Armstrong said "That's one small step for man; one giant leap for mankind".

I do not know what to write about this camera other than the megapixel and the price because for a camera this expensive and of this caliber that is all I can afford to know, because I would rather use the money as a down payment for a house. This camera is truly for the die hard enthusiast and collector, kinda like the Jay Leno of cameras.  Would you get it if you had the money or would a more domesticated brand like Nikon or Canon be good enough for you? Get this camera if your photography is making you tons of cash. That is the only way you can justify yourself for getting such an expensive camera.

Here is a chart for you to compare the difference between full frame and medium format.

Lonsdale Quayside

On our way home from my driving lesson we decided to stop by the tourist attraction spot at North Vancouver, Lonsdale Quayside Market to have our lunch. Food there was good but a little bit pricey.

In the market place food court.

I step out of the food court and started taking shots step by step till I can see downtown Vancouver.

Tug Boat like those you will see on the Belait River or Kuala Baram but this unit is newer and more powerful (I think).

There was some plant that was flowering near by, but I do not know the name of the species.

This is the typical Saturday Afternoon. Not too much people that day as it was really windy.
