Indonesian Fried Chicken.

I tried making Indonesian fried chicken and the result was awesome. I surprised even myself at the taste.

Here is the recipe for those of you who would like to try it out.

2 piece chicken thigh.
2 piece chicken drumstick.
2 table spoon turmeric powder.
2 table spoon coriander powder.
2 tea spoon garlic powder.
1 tea spoon cumin powder.
Some salt to taste.

Mix all the ingredient together and marinade for at least 4 hours. I marinaded mine for 24 hours.

Before frying, add the chicken into a pan on medium high heat. Add some water just enough to cook and shimmer the chicken in it. (not too much water or the taste will run). When chicken is about

Heat just enough oil to cover at least half of the chicken. When oil reaches optimum temperature place chicken in with the skin side down first. Fry for 5 minutes then turn to the other side and fry for 3-4 minutes.
Enjoy.

Next time I will show you people how to make the fried chicken that looks and taste better than KFC.

UPDATE: Nikon Vs Canon Part II

The mighty Nikkor 70-200mm f2.8 VR II by Nikon was announced on July 2009 and started shipping around November to replace the old Nikkor 70-200mm f2,8 VR. Used by professional photographer for just about anything from portraits to wedding and nature. This is one extremely fast and sharp lens. I do not own one, (I don't even have my own D-SLR yet). But like all things good, it comes with its own behemoth price tag. Last I check this baby would set you back a good CAD$2299. (The lens was on sales at the store I went to) Normal price would be about CAD$2499.

Looking at the photo you can tell this is a rather serious lens will all the buttons. This lens is made in Japan (YAY!!). The lens comes with lens hood and rear cap which are both made in Japan and a front cap that is made in Thailand and of course a pouch. Overall this is the lens that I would be saving really hard to get if I get my D-SLR.

Canon's answer to Nikon is the Canon EF 70-200mm f2.8L IS II USM.
Just like its direct competition from Nikon this lens too is replacing the Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L IS. The Japanese always makes things better by adding a II, III or IV on their product just like they do on their cars. Its spec is the same as Nikon's. The only thing I like is the colour. Canon really know how to package a product to make it prettier and more salable. If Nikon made their lens like this it would be sure to be a great selling point too.

Just look at it, the white body with the red band just like a Honda Type-R. This baby cost a whooping CAD$2699. That is $400 more than the Nikkor 70-200mm f2.8 VR II that performs on par of not better than the IS II. For those of you who don't know what the "L" stands for, it stands for Luxury. Canon's "L" lens is Canon's top of the line lens for all its EOS line of camera (Film and Digital). This lens is made in Japan. Comes with the lens pouch, front and rear caps and also a lens hood.

I try my best to be as neutral and as unbiased as possible when comparing this two brands. My readers will know that I personally prefer Nikon over Canon. And I will say it again that all my post a based on personal preference and should be a factor when you want to get your D-SLR or lens. Some of you might be asking yourself " if he doesn't own it how can he write about it?" Well to answer your question, it is though constant reading and researching both online, through books and magazine and visiting my friendly neighborhood camera stores that I gain much knowledge on the product that I write about. I hope that you have enjoyed reading my blog as much as I have enjoyed writing it.

Great places to get all your photography needs is from Adorama or Amazon if you are from the US or Canada. And if you are from the South East Asia, I would recommend then you pay ShaShinKi visit. They ship on the same day and normally your item will arrive in 3-4 days.

Update: Some items on Adorama ships for free to the US, and for the rest of the world, you can see how much the shipping fees will be when you want to check out your items. Happy shopping!!

On the next Tech talk I will be writing about Nikon's D300s and Canon's EOS 7D.

Nikon Vs Canon Part I

The war between this two super brand for camera have been going on for decades. And I am still torn between the two. Personally I prefer Nikon over Canon(Don't ask me why). Please bear in mind that the post is base entirely on my own point of view.

As I am still an amateur when it comes to photography, I wanted to get a mid range D-SLR that I can use for daily photography to practice and polish my skills. And when I am ready the make the jump to a high end professional D-SLR, I can just migrate over with my existing accessories and lens.

All Canon's D-SLR and lens are manufactured in Japan, thus my love for them. (I love Made In Japan). But sadly for me, only Nikon high end product are made in Japan. (D700 and up) and most of their lens are manufactured in Thailand. Most people will say that is doesn't matter, but it matters to me.

So without further adieu, these are the two models that I just can't seems to make up my mind on. The Nikon D90 and the Canon 50D.
